Women's Basketball Blows Past Vaughn, 83-36

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (4-3, 2-1 NEAC) dominated early and often, downing Vaughn College, 83-36 on Thursday evening.

Five Eagles scored in double-figures as Jasmine Poole led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds. Rakiyah Sellers added 13 points while Damaris King finished with a season high 12 points. Danesha Triplett and LaChe Robinson chipped in with ten points a piece.

CSE stormed out of the gate in the first quarter, running off a 13-0 run to open the game. Poole scored seven of her 15 first half points in the first three minutes of the game. Over an eight minute span in the second quarter, the Eagles defense shut Vaughn out, while scoring 28 unanswered to blow the game open at 50-11. The Eagles would close the half with nine more points, taking a 59-17 lead into the break.

The Eagles forced a 25 first half turnovers, while scoring a season high 59 points in the half. CSE also shot a blistering 54.3% from the floor in the first half.

CSE continued to play an all-around solid game in the second half, outscoring Vaughn by four points in the third quarter to take a 72-26 lead into the final ten minutes. The Eagles led by as many as 49 in the final period before taking the contest 83-36.

The Eagles defense forced a season high 41 turnovers and held Vaughn to just 28.6% shooting from the floor. CSE knocked down six of the 12 three-point attempts and the bench added 40 points for the game.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Old Westbury at 3 pm.
