Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's volleyball team (6-10, 3-6 NEAC) dropped a pair of conference matches to Gallaudet (20-25, 15-25, 20-25) and Penn State Abington (23-25, 15-25, 25-20, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon.
In the first match against Gallaudet, the Eagles fell in three sets to six time reigning NEAC champions 20-25, 15-25, 20-25. Despite a three set loss, the Eagles played well, finishing with 28 kills on 96 attempts, five service aces, five blocks and 27 assists.
Yasmin'na Muhammad once again had a solid game for CSE, finishing with ten kills.
Mikaela Gongora added seven kills and five digs while
Nicole Morera had 24 assists, 15 digs and two blocks.
In the second match of the day against Penn State Abington, the Eagles fell two sets down before winning the third set 25-20. In the set, the Eagles mounted a seven point comeback, finishing the set with 10 kills on 33 attempts. The Eagles battled tough in the fourth set, but was unable to continue the comeback, dropping the set 25-20.
As a team, the Eagles finished with 35 kills, 10 service aces, 32 assists and 72 digs. Muhammad once again had an outstanding game, finishing with a game high 16 kills and three aces. Stephanie Mitarotond added 32 digs and two assists in the match.
CSE returns to action mon Friday when they host York College at 7 pm.
