Morristown, N.J. - Geena Gallo scored her 1,000th career point for the Wildcats as SUNY Poly defeated the College of Saint Elizabeth (7-11, 7-6 NEAC), 71-54 on Sunday afternoon.
Gallo scored 14 points in the game as she was one of four Wildcats in double-figures.
Jasmine Poole paced the Eagles with 11 point and six assists. Poole also grabbed five rebounds including two on the offensive glass while adding two steals.
Amerisse Rogers added 11 points, three rebounds and two assists while
Deja Ingram also scored 11 points while grabbing five rebounds for the Eagles.
The Eagles found themselves in a big hole early, trailing 29-8 at the end of the first period. The Eagles managed to cut into the lead in the second quarter as Rogers buried a three-pointer to get CSE to within 33-16. Following the three-pointer, the Wildcats went on an 8-1 run to open up their largest lead of the game at 41-17. Ingram added a late bucket for the Eagles to slice the deficit to 43-21 heading into halftime.
Ingram sparked the Eagles early in the third quarter, scoring the first six points for the Eagles to get within 45-27. The Wildcats continued to make it difficult for CSE to cut into the lead in the quarter as SUNY Poly took a 60-36 lead into the final period.
CSE played tough in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 18-11 in the period. The Eagles defense locked down in the quarter, forcing five turnovers which lead to four fast break points for CSE. Despite cutting into the lead, CSE could not manage to get any closer, dropping the contest by 17.
CSE returns to action on Thursday for a key home conference matchup with NEAC South leading Lancaster Bible at 7 pm.
