Eagles Roll Past Wildcats

Williamsport, P.A. - Sharolin Sanders scored 14 points and grabbed a season high 17 rebounds as the College of Saint Elizabeth (7-10, 7-5 NEAC) rolled past Penn College, 85-66 on Saturday afternoon.

The key conference victory improves the Eagles to 7-5 in the NEAC. CSE is now just 1.5 games back of the 4th seed in the South division. 

Ashley Pledger had an impressive game on offense, scoring 22 points on 10-16 shooting from the floor. The senior also connected on a three-pointer and made her only free throw attempt. Pledger managed to grab seven rebounds, dish out four assists, and record two steals in the win.

Deja Ingram continued her stellar first season as an Eagle, dropping 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. The double-double was the eight of the season of the Eagles, a team high. Ingram also added four steals and two blocks for CSE.

CSE had a strong first half, ending the first quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 21-11 lead at the end of the period. CSE continued to control the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 21-17 in the quarter to take a 42-28 lead into halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, the Eagles opened up their largest lead of the game at 21. The Eagles were consistent the rest of the game, not letting the Wildcats get within 16, taking the contest by 19.

CSE returns to action on Sunday for a tough home contest with NEAC North leading SUNY Poly at 1 pm.
