Eagles Handled by Abington

Morristown, N.J. - Brittany Keyes knocked down her first five three-point attempts to help Penn State Abington defeat the College of Saint Elizabeth, 84-73 on Tuesday night.

Keyes, who finished with 22 points, was one of four players in double-figures for the Nittany Lions. Ashley Pledger had a team high 18 points for the Eagles. She was joined by Sharolin Sanders who scored a season high 17 points while grabbing 7 rebounds.

After falling behind 10-2, Deja Ingram scored the next four points to get the Eagles within 10-6. Abington used a 7-3 run to end the first quarter and take a 22-13 lead into the second period.

Abington opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to open up their largest lead of the game at 32-13. Trailing 39-17, the Eagles used a 10-0 run, lead by Pledger, to cut the deficit to 39-27. Despite cutting into the lead, the Nittany Lions ended the quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 50-29 lead into halftime.

The Eagles got off to a quick start in the third period as Amerisse Rogers knocked down a three-pointer to trim the deficit to 50-34. Abington continued to knock down three-pointers in the second half, expanding the lead to 19 with two minutes remaining. As the third quarter came to a close, Rodgers nailed a buzzer beating three-pointer, as Abington took a 67-53 lead into the final period.

The Eagles managed to cut the deficit to 12, however Abington would reopen an 18 point lead with just over two minutes remaining in the game. CSE would close strong, scoring 9 of the final 11 points, but it was not enough as Abington took the contest 84-73.

Deja Ingram added 14 points and pulled down 9 rebounds for the Eagles. Jasmine Poole was the fourth Eagle in double-figures for the contest, finishing with 13 points.

CSE (5-9, 5-4 NEAC) returns to action on Saturday when they host SUNY Poly at 1 pm.
