Jasmine Poole scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the College of Saint Elizabeth (5-8, 5-3 NEAC) defeated Penn College, 86-54 on Saturday afternoon.
Poole led a balanced offense throughout the game, scoring 15 of her 25 points after halftime. Poole was joined by freshman
Deja Ingram who notched another double-double, finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Alicia Ross scored a team high 24 points for the wildcats.
The Eagles got off to a slow shooting start to begin the game, trailing 21-17 after the end of the first period. In the second quarter, the Eagles used a 9-0 run to take a 28-23 lead with 5:00 minutes remaining in the half. CSE's defense was suffocating in the quarter, holding the Wildcats to just 7 points as the Eagles lead 34-28 at halftime.
The Eagles continued to turn turnovers into points as
Sharolin Sanders made an uncontested layup to give CSE a 41-30 lead two minutes into the third period. Poole added two late buckets for the Eagles as they took a 57-43 lead into the final period.
CSE continued to dominate in the fourth quarter, ending the game on a 17-3 run to give CSE a 32 point victory. The Eagles defense had another stellar final period, causing six turnovers and holding the Wildcats to just 11 points.
Ashley Pledger chipped in with 11 points and 6 assists despite fouling out midway through the fourth quarter. Sanders also added another quality game for the Eagles, scoring ten points including knocking down both of her three-point attempts.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday when they host reining NEAC Champions Penn State Abington at 7 pm.
