Lancaster, P.A.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (4-8, 2-2 NEAC) swept a doubleheader from Lancaster Bible, 3-0 and 19-8 on Thursday.
In game 1,
Alexandria Garcia held Lancaster scoreless through the first 3 innings. In the top of the 4th inning,
Nicole Morera lined a ball to short, scoring
Alesandria DeSapio to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. In the top of the 5th, Alex Garcia helped her own cause by grounding out to first, scoring
Valerie Lasko to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Garcia continued to dominate on the mound, giving up just 4 hits and 0 runs through the first 5 innings.
The Eagles would tack on another run in the top of the 6th when
Grace Bailey lined an RBI single scoring Morera to give CSE a 3-0 lead. Garcia would end up closing out the game, giving the Eagles a 3-0 win. Garcia threw a complete game shutout giving up just 7 hits while striking out 6.
In game 2, CSE jumped on the board quickly, scoring 6 runs in the first inning.
Alesandria DeSapio,
Morgan Sim, and Bailey all had RBI singles in the inning. Lancaster would have a big bottom of the third inning, scoring 6 runs to tie the game up at 7. DeSapio added another RBI single as part of a 3 run top of the 5th to give the Eagles a 10-7 lead. The Eagles exploded for 9 more runs in the top of the 6th inning behind RBI singles from
Kayla Gonzalez, Alex Garcia, Sim, Bailey, and Chirstina Scolaro.Garcia capped off the inning with an RBI double. Lancaster would score a run in the bottom of the 6th but it wasn't enough as the Eagles took the game 19-8.
Alexandria Garcia finished the game 4-5 with 4 RBI's.
Alesandria DeSapio finished 3-5 with 3 RBI's while
Grace Bailey finished 2-4 with 2 RBI's.
CSE returns to action on Friday when they travel to Penn State Berks for a 1 pm start.
