Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (8-20, 2-10) dropped a pair of out of conference games to FDU, 5-4 and 7-6 on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 in game 1,
Jessica Rediger clocked her first career home run to tie the score up at 1. FDU battled back to score 2 runs in the top of the 5th to retake a 3-1 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Rediger lined an RBI single to get the Eagles to within 3-2. After FDU scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th,
Alyssabel Garcia hit her first home run of the season to get the Eagles to within 5-4. Unfortunately, the Eagles were unable to score any more runs, dropping the game 5-4.
In game 2, the Eagles got out to a 1-0 lead when Garcia lined an RBI single, scoring
Valerie Lasko. FDU scored 2 runs in the 4th inning to take a 2-1 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Garcia blasted her second home run of the day to put the Eagles ahead 3-2. CSE would not be able to close the game out in the 7th as FDU put 5 runs across the plate to take a 7-3 lead. In the bottom of the 7th, Garcia smashed a 3-run homer to left field, her third of the day, to get the Eagles to within 7-6. CSE was unable to put the tying run across the plate, dropping the game 7-6. Garcia finished the game with 2 home runs and all 6 RBI's.
CSE returns to action on Monday when they host Lancaster Bible at 12 pm.
