Eagles Dominate from the Start; Sweep 2 from Baruch

Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (8-16, 2-8 NEAC) dominated from the start, beating Baruch College 14-1 and 8-2 on Thursday afternoon.

In the first inning of game 1, Christina Scolaro lined a double for the first hit of the game. Alexandria Garcia followed with an RBI double of her own to give the Eagles a 1-0. CSE would add another run to take a 2-0 lead after 1 inning. In the bottom of the second, Scolaro lined an RBI single up the middle to extend the Eagles lead to 4-0. Sisters Alexandria and Alyssabel Garcia followed up with back-to-back RBI singles to push the Eagles lead to 7-0.

On the mound, Jessica Rediger looked sharp early, setting down nine straight batters to open the game. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Alex Garcia roped a triple to right center, scoring Valerie Lasko and Scolaro. Alyssabel Garcia followed up with an RBI double to open up a 10-0 lead for CSE. CSE would end up adding two more runs in the inning to take a 12-0 lead. After Baruch scored a run in the top of the 4th, CSE responded with 2 in the bottom half of the inning to win the game 14-1 in five innings.

In game 2, Kayla Gonzalez got the Eagles on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning with an RBI single. Later in the inning, Julie Rodriguez blooped a 2-run double to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Grace Bailey followed with an RBI single to open up a 4-0 lead.  CSE added two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd to gain a 6-run lead.

Scolaro added to the Eagles lead in the 4th inning with an RBI double to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. Baruch battled back on the top of the 5th by scoring two runs to get within 7-2. The Eagles added a run in the 6th inning to take the game, 8-2.

CSE returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Penn State Abington for a 1 pm start.
