Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (6-12, 2-6 NEAC) used an offensive breakout to sweep a pair of games from Valley Forge, 12-1 and 13-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Ashley Pledger got the Eagles ahead early, driving a 2-run double into the gap to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead in the second inning. In the third inning, Morgon sim lined a double in the gap to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
Alexandria Garcia followed that with her second home run of the season to open up a 6-0 lead. Pledger would line another RBI double while
Valerie Lasko,
Christina Scolaro, and
Alyssabel Garcia would follow with RBI singles of their own to open a 10-0 lead.
On the mound,
Danesha Triplett threw 5 innings of 1 run ball while striking out 3. The Eagles would add 2 more runs in the 4th inning and win game 1, 12-1.
In game 2, Sim got the Eagles on the board with an RBI double to give the Eagles a 2-0 first inning lead. In the second inning, Scolaro,
Alesandria DeSapio, and Sim had 3 straight RBI's to open up a 5-0 lead.
Nicole Morera capped off the inning with a 2-run double to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. DeSapio added to the lead in the 3rd inning with a 2-run double. The Eagles would score 3 more runs in the inning to take a commanding 12-0 lead. CSE would add another run in the 4th inning and take the game 13-1.
Valerie Lasko finished the day 5-8 at the plate with an RBI.
Alesandria DeSapio was 4-6 with 3 RBI's while
Alexandria Garcia was 4-5 with a home run. CSE returns to action on Monday when they host Brooklyn College at 3 pm.
