Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (4-12, 2-6 NEAC) dropped a pair of games to Penn State Abington, 9-5 and 8-4 on Saturday afternoon.
In game 1, Abington quickly jumped out to a lead by hitting 3 first inning home runs to take a 5-0 lead. Abington would add 2 more in the 2nd inning to open up a 7-0 lead. The Eagles finally got on the board in the 5th inning when
Christina Scolaro singled home 2 runs to get CSE to within 7-2.
Alyssabel Garcia followed that up with a 2 run double to bring the Eagles to within 3. Abington added 2 runs in the top of the 7th to take the game 9-5.
In game 2, after Abington scored a run in the top of the first,
Valerie Lasko tied the game up at 1 by scoring on a wild pitch.
Morgan Sim gave the Eagles the 2-1 lead by lining a single and scoring
Alesandria DeSapio in the bottom of the 2nd inning. After taking a 3-2 lead, Abington added 4 more runs in the top of the 5th to open a 7-2 lead. Sim would line another RBI single in the bottom of the 5th to get the Eagles to within 4. Despite the Eagles scoring a run in the bottom of the 6th, they could not manage the comeback, dropping the game 8-4.
CSE returns to action on Sunday when they host Valley Forge College at 11 am.
