Myrtle Beach, S.C.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (0-2, 0-0 NEAC) dropped their first 2 games of the season to Gettysburg College and La Roche College on Tuesday.
In game 1 against Gettysburg College,
Alexandria Garcia, in her first collegiate inning of her career, sent Gettysburg down 1-2-3 in a flawless inning. In the bottom of the first, sister
Alyssabel Garcia singled home Alex to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless top of the 2

Valerie Lasko ripped a triple to center field to drive home
Kayla Gonzalez and give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the 4th inning, the Eagles flashed some leather as they turned an unconventional 2-3-1 double play to keep the score at 2-0. CSE threatened to score in the bottom of the 4th after Ashley Pledger singled up the middle, however Julie Rodriguez was gunned down at home in a close play at the plate.
The Eagles defense made 2 costly mistakes in the top of the 5th inning as Gettysburg plated 12 across to take a 12-2 lead. The Eagles were unable to make a comeback in the bottom half of the inning, dropping game 1, 12-2.
In game 2 against La Roche College, the Redhawks scored 2 in the first off of Christina Scolaro to take a 2-0. In the bottom of the second inning, La Roche platted 2 more across when Kara Sainato hit a 2 run-homer over the left field wall. The Eagles finally looked to get things going in the top of the 3rd when Valerie Lasko singled to left after a Grace Bailey walk. Following a double play, Nicole Morera ripped a double in the gap, driving home 2 runs to cut the deficit to 4-2.
After La Roche added 2 more in the bottom of the 4th, the Eagles fought back for 2 more of their own when Alyssabel Garcia roped a double in the gap scoring 2 and getting the Eagles to within 6-4. La Roche would add 2 more in the bottom of the 5th to take an 8-4 lead heading into the top of the 6th inning. The Eagles could not manage to score any more runs, dropping the contest 8-4.
Alyssabel Garcia finished 3-6 with 3 RBI's on the day while Valerie Lasko also finished 3-6 on the day with an RBI. The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they face Hilbert College at 9:30 am and Bay Path College at 11:30 am.
