Aurora, N.Y.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (11-11, 9-8 NEAC) dropped a tough road game at Wells College, 73-66 on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles found themselves in a big early hole, giving up a 10-0 run at the 12:49 mark.
Alexandria Garcia helped lead the Eagles comeback, making a layup followed by a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 17-15. CSE would continue to pour it on as
Ashley Pledger knocked down a three-pointer to extend the Eagles run to 17-0 and take a 24-17 lead. Wells would answer back with a 9-0 run of their own to take a 26-24 lead.
Amerisse Rogers would add a layup with 11 seconds left to tie the score up at 33 heading into halftime.
The Eagles continued to hang around in the second half as Rogers knocked down a three-pointer to tie the score up at 43. With 11:21 remaining, Garcia would knock down a jumper to give the Eagles a 52-50 lead. Wells however, would follow with a 12-2 run to take a 62-54 lead. The Eagles would manage to get back to within 4 but it was not enough as the Express took the game 73-66.
Amerisse Rogers finished with team high 22 points and 8 rebounds.
Ashley Pledger added 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
CSE returns to action on Wednesday when they host Penn State Berks at 7 pm.
