Eagles Win Streak Halted at Old Westbury

Old Westbury, N.Y. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (2-3, 2-0 NEAC) dropped an out of conference game to Old Westbury, 87-74 on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 11-6 lead when Jasmine Poole sank a three-pointer with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter. After the Panthers cut the lead to 15-11, Amerisse Rogers scored the next eight points for the Eagles to take a 23-14 lead into the second quarter.

After CSE lead 27-18 with 8:12 remaining in the second quarter, Old Westbury used a 13-5 run to cut the Eagles lead to one. Despite Old Westbury tying the score at 35, LaChe Robinson made a driving layup to give the Eagles a 37-35 lead at halftime.

At the start of the second half, Deja Ingram made a layup in the paint off Poole's fifth assist of the game to give CSE a 41-38 lead. The Panthers wouldn't give in, going on a 12-3 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 50-44. Both teams traded baskets for te remainder of the quarter as Old Westbury took a 58-51 lead into the final period.

Ashley Pledger started the fourth quarter with a breakaway layup to get the Eagles within five. CSE struggled to contain Jasmine Robinson who scored 20 of her 35 points in the second half. The Panthers continued to open up their lead in the fourth quarter, taking a 66-55 lead with 7:22 remaining in the game. CSE could not manage to get the game back under single-digits, dropping the contest, 87-74.

Deja Ingram notched her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jasmine Poole had one of her best games of the season, finishing with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Seniors Ashley Pledger added 16 points while Amerisse Rogers had 12 points.

CSE looks for their third straight NEAC win on Monday when they host Bryn Athyn at 7 pm.
