Keystone Too Much for Eagles

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's volleyball team (9-8, 4-5 NEAC) fell to out of conference opponent Keystone College, 3-0 (15-25, 20-25, 11-25) on Wednesday evening.

Trailing 10-3 in the first set, Kiana Cunningham served back to back aces to give the Eagles momentum, cutting the deficit to 5.  After trading points, Carolina Marte blistered a perfectly placed kill to get the Eagles back within 5. Despite cutting in the deficit, the Eagles were unable to get any closer, dropping the set 25-15.

The Eagles started much stronger in set 2, taking an early 4-3 lead. Despite Keystone opening a lead later on in the set, the Eagles held strong, capitalizing on 3 straight points to cut the deficit to 3, leading to a Keystone timeout. CSE continued to play well in the set, but couldn't manage a comeback, dropping the set 25-20.

The third set did not start out as planned for the Eagles as they quickly fell behind 7-1. Not giving up, CSE rallied back to cut the lead to 8-5. CSE could not manage to get much going in the third set, dropping the final set 25-11.

Carolina Marte lead the Eagles with 8 kills and 9 digs while Nicole Morera added 20 assists and 9 digs. CSE returns to action on Saturday when they host a tri-match with Alvernia College and Culinary Institute.
