Reading, P.A.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (4-3, 3-0 NEAC) opened up an early lead and never looked back, defeating Penn State Berks 85-57 on Thursday night.
Amerisse Rogers gave the Eagles the first lead of the game, knocking down a 3 pointer to take a 6-3 lead.
Alexandria Garcia added a three pointer of her own, giving the Eagles a 5 point lead at the 15 minute mark. The Nittany Lions from Penn State Berks would manage to keep the game within 8 with 6:30 minutes remaining. The Eagles would manage to reel off a 9-0 run in the next 2 minutes to blow the game wide open at 38-21. Rogers would drain the final jumper of the half, giving the Eagles a 46-28 lead heading into the break.
CSE came storming out of the gate in the second half, as
Ashley Pledger lead the Eagles on a 12-0 run, opening up a 32 point lead. The Nittany Lions managed to cut the lead to 64-44 with 8 minutes remaining before
Alivia Roseboro scored back to back baskets.
Sharolin Sanders would help put the game away, draining a jumper and giving the Eagles a 30 point lead once again. CSE would not let Berks get much closer, taking the game 85-57.
Alexandria Garcia played her best game of the season, scoring a career high 22 points while adding 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Sharolin Sanders continued her stellar play this season, going 10-21 from the floor for 21 points while pulling down 13 rebounds.
Ashley Pledger also added 19 points.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host Wilson College at 1 pm.
