Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (5-3, 4-0 NEAC) dominated from the start, taking down Wilson College 87-47 on Saturday.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 10-3 lead thanks to a 7-0 run.
Alivia Roseboro would help extend the lead to 16-4 after back to back steals, followed by fast break layups. CSE's leading scorer
Ashley Pledger nailed back to back jumpers of her own to push the lead to 30-14. Despite all the fast break points in the first half for the Eagles, the defense was the story, causing 22 first half turnovers. Roseboro accounted for 7 of her 12 steals in the first half, a new school record. Roseboro would end the first half by scoring the final 6 points in route to giving the Eagles a 44-28 first half lead.
Alexandra Garcia sparked a 14-2 run for the Eagles to open the second half, ballooning the lead to 59-30. The defense continued to be the story in the second half, causing 18 more turnovers and a season high 40 for the game. Despite Wilson cutting the lead to 25, Pledger and Roseboro combined for 8 of the next 10 points to take a commanding 79-41 lead. CSE would not let the Phoenix get any close, taking the game 87-47.
Alivia Roseboro played her best all around game of her career, finishing with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and a new school record 12 steals.
Ashley Pledger added 20 points and 5 assists while Alexandra Garcia chipped in with 16 points. At halftime, the participants from the Little Eagles Basketball Club played a 10 minute game and received autographs as well as had pizza with the players following the game.
CSE returns to action on Sunday when they host Gallaudet University at 1 pm.
