Marcy, N.Y.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (7-7, 5-4 NEAC) dropped a conference game at SUNYIT, 75-47 on Saturday.
The Eagles started out hot from the floor, taking a 12-11 lead as
Alexandria Garcia drained a three-pointer. The Eagles would not hold the lead for long as SUNYIT went on a 17-0 run over the next 7 minutes to take a 28-12 lead. CSE would fight back and score the next 4 points to cut the deficit to 12. Trailing by 20,
Danesha Triplett buried a jumper with 27 seconds as the Eagles entered halftime trailing 40-22.
Ashley Pledger scored the first field goal of the second half for CSE to get within 16. SUNYIT would score the next 9 points to open up a 25 point lead. With 10 minutes remaining,
Sharolin Sanders knocked down 2 straight jumpers to cut the deficit to 57-34. The Eagles continued to struggle from the field in the second half, shooting just 30% from the field. The Eagles could not manage to get any closer, dropping the contest 75-47.
Danesha Triplett lead the Eagles with 12 points.
Sharolin Sanders added 8 points and 3 rebounds. The game started 2 hours later then scheduled due to snow in New Jersey impacting CSE's travel.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday when they travel to Cazenovia for a 1 pm tip.
