Strong Second Half Lifts Eagles

Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (7-6, 5-3 NEAC) found their game late, nipping John Jay College 66-62 on Monday night.

Amerisse Rogers drained the first three-pointer of the game for the Eagles to tie the score up at 3. Ashley Pledger continued her stellar play, stealing a pass and taking it the distance for a layup plus a foul to give the Eagles their first lead of the game at 16-15. Alivia Roseboro got in the action with a fast break layup of her own to give the Eagles a 5 point lead, their largest of the game. The Eagles continued to play solid defense, forcing 11 first half turnovers while taking a 38-33 lead into the break.

The Eagles opened up the second half with the first 4 points to take a 42-35 lead. Despite the 7 point lead, John Jay would not go away, regaining the lead at 51-50. Following a timeout, Pledger hit 2 three-pointers to regain a 7 point lead for the Eagles at 60-53. Pledger would make another layup to give the Eagles their first double-digit lead at the 2:27 mark in the second half. John Jay would score the final 6 points of the game, however it would not be enough as the Eagles won their 7th game of the season, 66-62.
