Williamsport, P.A.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (6-6, 5-3 NEAC) struggled in the second half, losing to NEAC opponent Penn College 96-76 on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles dug themselves in early hole, falling behind 12-2 just 2 minutes into the game.
Amerisse Rogers got the Eagles going, knocking down back to back three-pointers to cut the deficit to 14-10.
Valerie Lasko knocked down 2 free throws at the 12:21 mark to tie the game up at 19. Following the tie, Penn College went on an 8-0 to retake an 8 point lead.
Ashley Pledger made a driving layup with 20 seconds remaining in the half to get the Eagles to within 46-42 at the break.
Sharolin Sanders nailed the first three-pointer for the Eagles in the second half, bringing the score back down to 4. Penn College took their first double-digit lead of the game at the 10:44 mark, taking a 70-60 lead. Trailing 79-66, Sanders hit another three-pointer from the corner to get CSE to within 10. The Eagles couldn't manage to get any closer, dropping the contest 97-76.
Ashley Pledger finished with a team high 21 points while
Sharolin Sanders added 20 points including 4 three-pointers.
Amerisse Rogers had one of her best games of the season, scoring 17 points while adding 15 rebounds.
The Eagles return to action on Martin Luther King day when they host John Jay at 7 pm.
