Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's volleyball team dominated from the start, defeating Yeshiva University 25-7, 25-17, and 25-11 on Wednesday night.
Ayesha Brannon jumped started the Eagles right from the start, serving 3 straight points to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead. CSE continued to add on as Amy Cooper aced a serve, giving the Eagles a 12-5 lead. After adding 2 more points, Nicole Morera put away a beautiful kill, giving the Eagles a 10 point lead. The Eagles offense continued to dominate Yeshiva, upping the lead to 2-5, leading to a Maccabees timeout. Leading 22-6, Morera served a perfectly place ace, expanding the lead to 22-7. CSE would win 3 of the next 4 points to take the first set 25-7.
Brannon got the Eagles off to another quick start in set 2, winning the first 7 points, giving CSE a 7-0 lead. The sister combination of Amy and Katie Cooper once again shined for the Eagles as they helped CSE blow the lead open to 14-5. Nicole Morera put away a dynamite kill late in the set to give the Eagles a 22-14 lead. The Macabees kept fighting in the set, but ultimately dropped the set 25-17.
CSE jumped out quickly again in set 3 behind Janish Grant's great serving, giving the Eagles a 12-3 lead. Not to be outdone, Natasia Wilson had a great run of serving, expanding the Eagles lead to 18-8. Freshman Lynette Hardy got the Eagles to match point, serving an ace to give CSE a 24-10 lead. Despite losing the next point, CSE would win the following point and take the match 25-11.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when they host Sarah Lawrence and William Paterson in a tri-match starting at 9 am.
