Morristown, N.J.- The Panthers from Old Westbury proved too much to handle, as CSE fell on Sunday 87-72.
In the first half,
Alivia Roseboro made a driving layup to tie the score up at 4. The Panthers from Old Westbury went on a run midway through the half to open up a 26-8 lead.
Sharolin Sanders would not let the Eagles go down easily, knocking down back to back shots to cut the deficit to 30-20. The panthers would reopen a 19 point lead with 1 second remaining before
Ashley Pledger got fouled shooting a 3 at the buzzer. She would knock down all 3 free throws as the Eagles looked to rebound from a 16 point deficit in the second half.
Amerisse Rogers nailed a 3 pointer to open the second half and cut the lead to 13. The Eagles would get it as low as 8 before the Panthers went on a 6-0 run to open the lead back up to 14. The Eagles would not go away however as
Christine Grispart took over down low, scoring 6 straight for the Eagles to cut the lead to 6. Trailing 73-65, Alexandra Garcia drained a long 3 point to get the Eagles to within 5 with 4 minutes remaining. Despite the Eagles getting to within 3, Old Westbury went on a 7-0 run to regain a 10 point lead with a minute and a half remaining. CSE could not manage to get any closer, dropping the game 87-72.
The Eagles (3-3, 2-0 NEAC) head into Christmas break with 4 weeks off before returning to action on January 8th at Penn State Berks.
