Coach Vega returns to the Eagles women’s basketball sidelines as an assistant coach under
Coach Johnson this 2021 – 2022 season.
Raised in Union City, NJ, Vega graduated from St. Joseph’s of the Palisades High School in
West New York, NJ where she played basketball and softball for four years. Vega, a 4-year
varsity basketball starter, led her team to the NJ State Girl’s High School tournament twice, and
received All-Hudson County Honors. She went on to play women’s basketball at Bloomfield
College, Bloomfield, NJ, where she was on the Dean’s List and earned a Bachelor’s degree in
Business Administration. Vega, a starting point guard for the Deacons, was a captain, received
All-Conference Honors, led the NAIA Women’s Basketball Conference in assists and guided her
team to the 1st NAIA National Championships in Portland, Oregon 1992.
She is currently in her 6th season as the Head JV and Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Villa
Walsh Academy, Morriston, NJ. Prior to coaching on the women’s side, Vega was a head coach
for 10 years with prestigious New Jersey Panthers Boys AAU Basketball Program where she led
several teams to the AAU National Championships in Orlando, Fl. Vega is a personal basketball
trainer and works with student-athletes, both boys and girls, to develop their skills and prepare
them for the next level of basketball. Besides coaching, Coach Vega has been a high school
basketball official for the past 15 years and is a member of the International Association of
Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) Board 168.
