Tom Wagenblast was hired as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Admissions Recruiter in the Fall of 2015. He was given the responsibility to start the Men’s Basketball program.
In his first season at the helm, Wagenblast led the first-year program to seven wins, playing all freshman and only one sophomore, including its historic first win in front of a sellout against The King's College on Nov. 19, 2016. In his second season, the team won eight games, including four in the NEAC. On Jan. 6, 2018, the program had the honor of playing the College of New Rochelle at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., which was won by CSE, 98-96.
During the 2018-2019 season, the Men’s Basketball program made its first ever post season appearance, playing in the NEAC playoffs and finishing with thirteen wins despite injuries in the final three weeks of the season. Wagenblast has improved the team’s overall win total in each of his first three seasons.
At the conclusion of the 2018-2019 campaign, the program in its entirety was awarded the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association Sam Schoenfeld Award. The award is presented to the college or university, which in the judgment of the CBOA membership, best exemplifies "the highest degree of sportsmanship, character, and ethics among their players, coaches and spectators."
Wagenblast arrives from Kean University, where he was the Associate Head Coach for seven seasons.
