Women's Volleyball Competes in USMMA Tri-Match

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Saint Elizabeth University women's volleyball team continued its 2026 season on Saturday, competing against Suffolk University and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a tri-match at Liebertz Gym.

The Eagles dropped both contests in straight sets, falling to Suffolk, 3-0, before closing the afternoon with a 3-0 setback against host Merchant Marine.

Suffolk 3, Saint Elizabeth 0

Saint Elizabeth opened the day against Suffolk and showed flashes offensively throughout the match. The Eagles recorded 15 kills, 13 assists, three service aces and two total blocks.

Amiyah Freeman led the SEU attack with five kills while adding five digs. Dadlyna Louis followed with four kills, while Eri Menaling Trajano contributed three kills on three attempts and handed out a team-high eight assists. Menaling Trajano also recorded a service ace and three digs.

Dani Villafuerte provided a spark from the service line with two aces while also contributing three assists and two digs. Jordan Hunter added a kill and was involved in two blocks, including one solo block.

One of SEU's strongest stretches came during the opening set. After falling behind early, the Eagles put together a six-point run to take the lead. Freeman recorded two kills during the run, while Villafuerte delivered back-to-back service aces.

Suffolk eventually regained control and went on to complete the straight-set victory.

Merchant Marine 3, Saint Elizabeth 0

The Eagles returned to the court later in the afternoon to face host Merchant Marine.

Saint Elizabeth finished the match with three kills, three assists, one service ace, 16 digs and two block assists.

Hunter, Mariss Jean Baptiste and Menaling Trajano each recorded a kill for the Eagles. Victoria Compton distributed a team-high two assists, while Menaling Trajano added one.

Freeman recorded SEU's lone service ace of the match and also combined with Jean Baptiste for a block in the opening set.

Defensively, Louis led Saint Elizabeth with four digs. Compton and Villafuerte each added three, while Freeman, Menaling Trajano and Elizabeth McGreevy each finished with two.

The two matches moved Saint Elizabeth to 0-2 on the season.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, September 12th, as they will face off with Gallaudet & Sweet Briar, in the Sweet Briar Tri-Match with action beginning at 1PM.
