ASHTON, PA/MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The St. Elizabeth University baseball team continued Atlantic East Conference play over the weekend, taking on Neumann University in a three-game series across Saturday and Sunday. While the Eagles were unable to come away with a win, St. Elizabeth showed resilience and received several strong individual offensive performances throughout the weekend.
In the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Eagles mounted a strong response after falling behind early, erupting for a five-run fourth inning to get back into the contest and keep the pressure on Neumann.
Chris Valencia delivered the biggest swing of the day with a three-run home run, while Owen Murphy went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Harrison Curran also recorded two hits as Saint Elizabeth battled back and showed resilience throughout the opener.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Eagles were unable to recover from a fast start by Neumann, but still found contributions offensively.
Jordan Martin drove in the Eagles' lone run, while Sam Porch Jr. and Gabe Castro each recorded hits.
St. Elizabeth returned home Sunday to wrap up the series at Naimoli Ballpark, where Mark Nesler Jr. provided the highlight of the afternoon by launching a solo home run.
Sam Porch Jr. added a double, while Cameron Vicari, Chris Povemba, and Gabe Castro each contributed hits in the series finale.
