Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The St. Elizabeth University softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday in Myrtle Beach, falling to Wilson College in game one and Wilkes University in game two.
Game One: Wilson 6, St. Elizabeth 0
Wilson struck for a run in the fourth inning and added to its lead late to defeat the Eagles, 6-0, in the opening game of the day.
St. Elizabeth recorded five hits in the contest. Samantha Hemhauser and Josilynn Garcia each collected two hits to pace the Eagles offensively, while Isabella Hanos added a hit.
In the circle, Kami DeGaetani delivered a strong effort, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings of work. Wilson pushed across four unearned runs in the seventh inning to extend the margin. Jazmin Frias came on in relief to finish the game.
Game Two: Wilkes 8, St. Elizabeth 0
In the second game, Wilkes used a five-run second inning to take control and went on to an 8-0 victory over St. Elizabeth.
The Eagles totaled six hits in the contest, led by a 2-for-2 performance from Leidy Soto Leyba. Jadyn Barker, Josilynn Garcia, Mia Testa, and Isabella Hanos each added a hit.
After a scoreless first inning, Wilkes capitalized in the second with five runs before adding one in the third and two in the fourth.
Kara Reyes took the loss in the circle, pitching four innings and recording three strikeouts.
