Saint Elizabeth Men’s Volleyball Falls to Wilson in Straight Sets

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The Saint Elizabeth University men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Wilson College in straight sets on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hall, falling 3-0 by scores of 25-12, 25-12, and 25-19.

Despite the setback, the Eagles showed improvement as the match progressed, putting together their strongest offensive effort in the third set while battling to stay within striking distance late.

Kennedy Ibezim led Saint Elizabeth offensively with a team-high seven kills while hitting .333, adding steady production throughout the match. Kyzier Kelly contributed two kills, 18 digs, and strong back-row play as libero, while Randel Romero paced the offense with 11 assists and added 10 digs.

In the opening set, Saint Elizabeth stayed competitive early before Wilson used a late run to pull away for a 25-12 win. The Eagles recorded three kills with no attacking errors in the first frame, led by Ibezim's three kills.

Wilson seized control in the second set, capitalizing on service pressure and defensive stops to earn another 25-12 victory. Saint Elizabeth was limited to two kills in the set, but the Eagles continued to fight at the net and on serve receive.

The Eagles turned in their best performance in the third set, totaling eight kills and hitting .179 while staying close through much of the frame. Saint Elizabeth tied the set at 17-17 after rallying behind key points from Ibezim and Romero, but Wilson closed the match with an 8-2 run to secure the sweep.

Defensively, Saint Elizabeth finished with 52 digs and one team block, with Enock Joachim adding 17 digs and Carlos Saldana contributing eight digs. The Eagles also continued to compete through long rallies and extended points throughout the match.
