Morristown, N.J. — St. Elizabeth University Men's Basketball delivered an 86–77 victory over Penn State–Abington on Wednesday night at Saint Joseph Gym, pulling away in the second half behind a dominant all-around performance and a historic scoring night from Tye-Rell Monroe.
After a tight opening half that saw the Eagles trail 41–39 at the break, St. Elizabeth turned up the defensive pressure and tempo after intermission. The Eagles outscored the Lions 47–36 in the second half, forcing turnovers that fueled fast-break opportunities and steady trips to the free-throw line.
Monroe led all scorers with 34 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including four three-pointers, while adding five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. His performance also marked a major milestone, as the senior guard eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for his collegiate career, cementing his place among the program's all-time greats.
Josiah King provided strong support with 19 points and five rebounds, while Cam'Ron Martel was a force on the glass, finishing with 14 rebounds to go along with 12 points. Joseph Mazzola chipped in 12 points off the bench, and the Eagles' depth paid dividends with 14 bench points overall.
St. Elizabeth shot efficiently from the line, going a perfect 18-for-18, and forced 14 Penn State–Abington turnovers, converting them into 23 points. The Eagles also controlled the pace in transition, scoring 25 fast-break points to help seal the win.
