WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Nov. 14, 2025) — The Saint Elizabeth University women's basketball team put together a strong defensive effort and a standout performance from senior guard Ahjionae Cobb, but the Eagles ultimately fell to Wilkes University, 68–53, on Friday night at the Arnaud C. Marts Center.
Cobb led all scorers with 24 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Saint Elizabeth (1–2) stayed within striking distance for three quarters before Wilkes used a late surge to pull away.
First Half
Wilkes opened the game with early pressure, but the Eagles responded with key baskets from My'shiah McQueen and Cobb to settle into the contest. Despite trailing 22–14 after the first quarter, SEU tightened its defense in the second period, forcing seven Wilkes turnovers. Cobb, Elyssa Russo, and Mya Davis sparked the offense as Saint Elizabeth trimmed the deficit to 35–30 at halftime.
Third Quarter
The Eagles came out energized to start the second half. A three-pointer from Davis evened the score at 37–37, and SEU briefly took the lead behind continued defensive pressure and efficient mid-range shooting from McQueen. However, Wilkes countered with a 6–0 run late in the quarter to regain momentum, sending the Eagles into the fourth trailing 43–40.
Fourth Quarter
Wilkes capitalized on foul trouble and turnovers in the final period, outscoring Saint Elizabeth 25–12. Despite strong rebounding — SEU finished with 42 boards — the Eagles couldn't slow down the Colonels' inside attack, as Wilkes tallied 50 points in the paint.
