Women's Basketball Advances to CSAC Semifinals with Win Over Bryn Athyn

Freshman forward Egypt Beatty records career high 12 points in win over Bryn Athyn

Saint Elizabeth University Women's Basketball defeated Bryn Athyn, 60-53, on Monday night to advance to the 2023 CSAC Semifinals. Destiny Battle lead the way with a team high 14 points, and senior guard Alani Jones (Tie-2) and freshman forward Egypt Beatty (4) recorded career highs in made 3 pointers. The win advances the Lady Eagles to the next round of the CSAC Women's Basketball Championships, as they will hit the road to face #1 seed Notre Dame of Maryland for a spot in the final.

The Lady Eagles held the lead going into the second half of play. Despite a rough start to the half, the Lions did not back down, as they retook with lead with an 8-0 run to end the third quarter. SEU retook control of the game with a 10-0 run of their own to begin the fourth quarter. Big time 3 pointers from Jones and Beatty tied the game up, and a tough and one finish by Joelle Sherman gave the back to the Eagles. Jones knocked down her second to tie her career high in three made, and then came down the court after a big stop to score back-to-back buckets to extend the lead to 8. The Eagles defended home court and finished the game with solid rebounding and converting free throws. The Lady Eagles finish the 2022-23 season with a 3-0 record against Bryn Athyn.

The Eagles will head to Baltimore on Wednesday night against #1 seed Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland. Tip off is set for 7 p.m,  and the winner will face #3 Clarks Summit or #2 Keystone in the CSAC Women's Basketball Championship Final on Saturday
