Nasir Owens dropped a team-high 16 points to continue his hot start to the season, as all five starters scored in double figures for Saint Elizabeth. However, in the end John Jay was able to pull away in a 68-70 defeat in New York City. The two-game agreement ends in a split as the Eagles were able to defeat John Jay last season at home 90-87 on December 14, 2022.
The Eagles were able to play well in the first half and started the game by outscoring the Bloodhounds 22-13. John Jay was able to fight back and closed the lead to a 31-30 Eagles advantage at halftime. Saint Elizabeth was very successful from behind the 3pt line shooting 4 for 9 in the first half.
Pierre Harden registered his second double-double in as many games with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
D'Angelo Blackmond achieved his first double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Tye-Rell Monroe and
Jonathan Ramos also scored in double figures with 15 points and 10 points respectively.
