Phoenixville, Pa. – The Saint Elizabeth University men's volleyball team was clicking on all cylinders Thursday night after more than a year between competitions, as the Eagles swept Valley Forge with a pair of 3-0 victories. Set scores were 25-8, 25-12, 25-15 in game one, and 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 in game two.
The first match of the night counted towards Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) standings, while the second match was technically considered a non-conference competition.
In the first match, sophomore outside hitter
Kodi Peters (Bergenfield, N.J. / Bergenfield) and freshman outside hitter
Jayson Camacho each registered a match-high nine kills. Senior middle blocker
Justin Millan (Orange, N.J. / West Caldwell Tech) totaled eight kills, two service aces and four digs, while sophomore setter
Charles Pampliega (Teaneck, N.J. / Teaneck) piled up 25 assists, five service aces, and three digs.
The Eagles (2-0, 1-0 CSAC) hit .338 as a team, and limited Vallely Forge (1-7, 1-2 CSAC) to -.172 hitting.
In the second match, senior outside hitter
Yamere Edwards (Paterson, N.J. / Eastside) had a match-high eight kills while hitting .700. Sophomore setter
Joseph-Angelo Calayag (Bergenfield, N.J. / Bergenfield) filled the stat sheet with three kills, 20 assists, six service aces and five digs.
Up next, Saint Elizabeth hosts Wilson on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the main gym inside Saint Joseph's Hall. The first match will count towards the CSAC standings and the second is considered a non-conference game.
