Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Saint Elizabeth men's basketball team used a balanced offensive attack and held Pratt to just 30.2 percent shooting as the Eagles came away with a 72-52 victory at Barclay's Center on Monday morning.
Senior center
Roland Romano (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) led the Eagles (10-5) with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. Senior guard
Jason Saldiveri (New Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) finished with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals.
Saint Elizabeth built a 33-26 halftime lead, and opened the second half on a 10-2 run to push the lead to 45-28 with 15:10 remaining. From there, the host Cannoneers (7-10) were kept at arm's length.
The Eagles turned 27 Pratt turnovers into 26 points, held a 42-22 advantage in the paint, and scored 33 bench points compared to just 13 for Pratt. A total of 16 different Eagles saw court action, and senior guard
Cam Tucker (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) played a team-high 27 minutes.
The Saint Elizabeth defense limited Pratt to just 4-for-29 (13.8 percent) shooting from three-point range, and registered 13 steals.
