Eagles Tripped Up By Wildcats

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's volleyball team (4-9, 0-6 NEAC) fell in a conference matchup to SUNY Poly, 3-0 (13-25, 15-25, 25-27) on Friday evening.

After the Wildcats took the first set 25-13, the Eagles started the second set better, winning six of the first 11 points. After the wildcats fought back to take a 10-6 lead, the Eagles won the next three points to get within one.  After the Eagles tied it at 11, the Wildcats won six of the next seven points to open a 17-12 advantage.  The Eagles continued to fight in the set but could not close the gap as the Wildcats took the set, 25-15.

The third set saw the Eagles take an early 4-3 lead.  Trailing 11-8, the Eagles rolled off the next five points to regain a 13-11 lead.  CSE continued to up lead, gaining an 18-14 advantage, its largest of the match.  Despite the four-point lead, the Wildcats won five of the next six points to tie the match at 19.  

After Poly took the next four points, the Eagles would not go away, winning the next four points to tie the match at 23.  With the match tied at 25, the Wildcats won the next two points, taking the final set, 27-25.

Justin Millan led the Eagles with eight kills and five digs.  Frank Rossi Jr. finished with 11 assists and an ace while Daniel Chavez added seven digs and five kills.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when it travels to NJCU for a tri-match beginning at 1 pm.
