MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's volleyball team (1-2, 0-0 NEAC) earned its first victory of the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-21) win over the Pratt Institute on Friday evening.
CSE started strong in the first set, scoring eight of the first 10 points to take an 8-2 lead. Â Following six straight points by Pratt to tie the game, the Eagles ran off another 8-2 run to gain a 16-10 lead. Â The Eagles closed the set by taking nine of the final 12 points to take the first set, 25-13.
The Eagles continued its runs in the second set, scoring seven of the first nine points to take a 7-2 advantage. Â Leading 13-11,
Chino Singalivo scored four straight service points to give the Eagles a 17-11 lead. Â The Eagles closed the set by winning 8 of the final 14 points to take a 2-0 advantage.
In the third set, Pratt jumped out to a 14-9 lead before the Eagles took eight of the next nine points to gain a 17-15 lead. Â CSE closed out the match by winning 8 of the final 14 points to take the final set, 25-21.
Daniel Chavez led the way with eight kills and seven assists. Â
Justin Millan added seven kills and two blocks while
Frank Rossi Jr. added 13 assists.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when it travels to St. Joseph Brooklyn for a 12 pm start.
