Eagles drop heartbreaker to Wilson in 5th set

Morristown, N.J. - Women's volleyball lost a heartbreaker to Wilson in the 5th set 3-2. The match went back and forth, but the Eagles came up just short. Their record is 8-10 on the season. 

 

They opened up the match with 4 straight points in the 1st set. They won the first match with a score of 25-22. They would drop the next 2 matches by scores of 28-26 and 25-20. Being down 2-1, the Eagles came back strong in match 4, winning 25-17. During this match they finished with a stretch where they had 11 of the final 17 points. In the deciding match, they continue their hot streak going up 12-6. Unfortunately, Wilson scored 9 of the next ten points to comeback and win the match. It was true heartbreak in a valiant effort on the Eagle's part. 

 

The Eagles were led a few standout performances. Maura Farley (Iselin, N.J.) had a season-high in assists with 35, as well as four aces, seven kills, and 14 digs. Yas Muhammad (Newark, N.J) also set a season-high mark with 18 kills. Stephanie Mitarotonda (East Rutherford, N.J.) contributed five aces, 12 kills, and 15 digs. 

 

The Eagles are home when they face CCNY next on Tuesday, October 29 at 7 p.m.
