WASHINGTON, D.C. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (10-8, 5-5 NEAC) had a strong second half rally, but came up just short at Gallaudet University, 83-79 on Wednesday evening.
Jason Saldiveri led the way with a game high 28 points on 9-21 from the floor and 9-13 from the free throw line.
Cam Tucker,
Lance Rhoden and
Shaquan Mickens all finished in double-figures.
After trailing by 14 at halftime, the Eagles opened the second half on a 20-6 run to tie the game at 47. Despite tying the game, the Eagles could not take the lead as the Bison regained a double-digit lead at the 8:42 mark. CSE refused to go away quietly, getting to within one just three minutes later.
With 54 seconds remaining, Mickens made a driving layup to tie the game at 76. Over the next 30 seconds, the Bison scored five straight points to take a 81-76 lead. CSE would knock down a three-pointer with nine seconds remaining, but couldn't get any closer, dropping the game by four.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when it hosts Wells College at 3 pm.
