Cam Tucker scored a career high 40 points as the College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (9-6, 4-3 NEAC) held on for a thrilling double-overtime win over Penn State Berks, 125-114.
Tucker scored 40 points on 7-8 from the floor and 22-24 from the free throw line. Â
Jason Saldiveri finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds and six steals while Ted Thelamaque added 18 points and nine rebounds.
After a close start to the game, CSE opened up a six-point with 11:15 remaining in the first half.  The Nittany Lions outscored the Eagles by 10 over the next five minutes to take a 31-27 advantage.  Despite the Eagles using a 9-0 run to lead 36-31, the Nittany Lions closed the half out strong, taking a 41-39 lead into halftime.
Berks started the second half strong, opening up its largest lead of the game at 67-56 with 11:20 remaining in regulation. Â Even though the Eagles trailed by 11 with under five minutes to go, it scored 11 of the next 16 points to get within five. Â CSE continued to chip into the lead and got within two with 30 seconds left before Saldiveri made a driving layup to tie the game at 89. Â
With just six seconds left, Matt Seip of Penn State Berks was fouled shooting a three and converted all three of the free throws to take a 92-89 lead. Â Not to be outdone, with one second remaining, Tucker was also fouled shooting a three-pointer and made all three attempts, tying the score at 92 and sending the game to overtime.
The first overtime saw more back and forth action as the Eagles gained a 104-101 lead with 18 seconds remaining. Â Following two Berks free throws to cut the Eagles lead to one, Tucker knocked down two more clutch free throws to give the Eagles a 106-103 lead. Â However, Steve Luchasnky of Berks hit a buzzer beating three from half court, tying the game at 106 and sending the contest to a second overtime.
In the second overtime, the Nittany Lions looked to gain control as it took a 113-108 lead with 2:20 remaining.  Despite the deficit, the Eagles roared off 17 of the next 18 points over the final 2:20 to win the game, 125-114.
The 125 points are the most points scored in a game for the Eagles in program history.
The Eagles look to make it three in a row on Wednesday when it hosts Lancaster Bible College at 7 pm.
