MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 NEAC) rolled to its second straight win to open the season, defeating Clarks Summit University, 88-70 on Monday evening.
In the first two minutes of the first half, 
Darnill Brown buried back-to back three-pointers to give the Eagles an early 8-4 lead.  After the Defenders rallied to take an 11-10 lead, the Eagles ran ff the next five points to regain a four-point lead.  CSE continued to build momentum and the lead, opening up a seven-point advantage at the 11 minute mark.
Over the next four minutes, the Eagles went on a 8-2 run behind a five-point spree by 
Lance Rhoden to give the Eagles its largest lead of the game at 34-19.  Over the final six minutes of the first half, CSE outscored Clarks Summit, 14-11 to take a 48-30 lead into the break.
CSE started strong in the second half, scoring 12 of the first 18 points to open up its biggest advantage of the game at 60-36. With 12 minutes remaining, 
Jordan Simmons converted an and-one to give the Eagles a 71-44 lead.  Clarks Summit outscored the Eagles by nine over the final ten minutes but could not get closer than 18 as the Eagles won the game, 88-70.
Rhoden and Brown lead the Eagles with 14 points each.  
Jordan Simmons added 11 points while 
Roland Romano pitched in with five points and six assists.
CSE returns to action on November 19 when it travels to Dover, Delaware to take on Delaware State in an exhibition game.  This will mark the first time the Eagles will compete against a Division I opponent.
