MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's volleyball team (7-15, 2-6 NEAC) was tripped up in its final non conference matchup to Brooklyn College, 3-0 (22-25, 24-26, 19-25) on Wednesday evening.
The first set saw both teams trading points midway through the set before the Bulldogs won three straight points to take its largest lead of the set at 17-12. Â CSE tried to battle back in the set, getting to within 22-20, leading to a Brooklyn timeout. Â CSE could not manage to get closer than two before Brooklyn took the set, 25-22.
The second set featured the Eagles getting off to a hot start as it took an early two point lead. Â With Stacey Medina serving, CSE won three straight points midway through the set to open up its largest lead of th match at 17-13. Â Despite the four-point lead, Brooklyn managed to take the next seven points to regain a 20-17 lead. Â The Eagles battled back in the set, squaring the score at 24, however the Bulldogs took the final two points to take the set, 26-24.
The third set continued to go back and forth as the Bulldogs took a 13-12 lead midway through.  The bulldogs upped the lead to five before the Eagles rallied off the next three points to get within 19-17.  Leading 23-19, Brooklyn took the final two points to take the set 25-19 and win the match, 3-0.
Stephanie Mitarotonda lead the Eagles with 15 digs, 12 kills and two service aces. Â
Maura Farley added 20 assists and seven kills while
Charelle Charles finished with 11 digs.Â
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it travels to SUNY Poly for a NEACÂ quad match.
