Second Half Dooms Eagles

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (7-13, 6-10 NEAC) let a double-digit halftime lead slip away, falling to Penn College, 88-77 on Saturday afternoon.

Jason Saldiveri led the Eagles with a team high 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Marlon Hart added 20 points and four rebounds while Cameron Tucker finished with six points and four rebounds.

Leading 8-7 early in the first half, the Eagles ripped off a 15-3 run to open up a 23-10 lead. CSE would expand to the lead to as much as 14 before the Wildcats went on a run of their own, cutting the lead to 27-22 with 9:01 remaining in the first half. After trading buckets for the next eight minutes, Saldiveri scored the final five points of the half for the Eagles, giving CSE a 46-37 halftime lead.

The Wildcats came out strong in the second half, scoring the first nine points to tie the score at 46. Penn College took a four point lead with 11:25 remaining, but the Eagles scored the next four points to tie the score at 58. Penn College controlled the next six minutes, taking a nine point lead before the Eagles cut the deficit to four with 2:35 remaining in regulation. Over the final two minutes, the Eagles were unable to get close then five, dropping the contest by 11.

CSE returns to action on February 11 when it hosts Morrisville State at 3 pm.
