Eagles Dominate Cazenovia on Senior Day

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (15-8, 12-6 NEAC) blitzed past Cazenovia College on Senior Day, 86-60 on Sunday afternoon.

Danesha Triplett dominated all game for the Eagles, finishing with 29 points on 13-18 from the floor, eight rebounds and three steals. Jasmine Poole also shined on senior day, finishing with 25 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals while Rakiyah Sellers added 11 points.

Playing in her final home game at CSE, Triplett scored five of the first seven points for the Eagles. Despite playing even over the next four minutes, Cazenovia knocked down four three-pointers to end the quarter to take a 21-17 lead into the second quarter.

The Eagles rolled out of the gate in the second quarter, scoring the first 13 points to take a 30-21 lead. Leading 37-28 with four minutes to play, CSE scored eight of the next nine points to take a 45-29 lead. As time was expiring at the end of the quarter, Deja Ingram hit a turn around three-pointer to beat the buzzer, giving the Eagles a 48-29 halftime lead. CSE outscored Cazenovia 31-8 in the second quarter.

CSE continued its solid play in the third quarter, opening up a 27 point lead with 4:30 to go in the quarter. Cazenovia would outscore the Eagles by four over the final four minutes as the Eagles took a 68-45 lead into the final quarter. The Eagles would manage to push the lead to as much as 31 in the fourth quarter before taking the contest by 26.

With the win, the Eagles clinched its first NEAC playoff birth in three seasons. CSE is still in contention to host a first round game on February 21, depending on if they finish second or third in the south division.

Before the game, seniors Jasmine Poole, Danesha Triplett, Patricia Dennis, Alivia Roseboro and Taylor Foxworth were honored for their dedication to the athletic program. Each senior was presented with a framed photo from their playing days.

CSE returns to action on Friday when it travels to Wells College for a 5 pm tip.
