MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (2-7, 0-4 NEAC) fell to Wesley College in a close contest to close out 2017, 66-61 on Tuesday afternoon.
Deja Ingram led the Eagles with 28 points, 16 rebounds,eight blocks, and three steals.Â
Kamani Williams added 11 points and seven rebounds while
Damaris King chipped in with eight points.
After trailing early in the first quarter, the Eagles closed out the final 2:20 on a 6-0 run to take a 15-10 lead into the second period. CSE lead by as many as six however Wesley stormed back to take a 23-20 lead with 5:57 remaining in the half. After the Eagles regained the lead in the closing minutes, Ingram made a layup to end the half, giving CSE a 35-31 lead heading into the break.
The third quarter went back and forth as there were four lead changes in the ten minutes. Wesley took the lead with four minutes remaining and held on to a 47-45 advantage, going into the final quarter. With 7:05 remaining in regulation, Williams buried a three-pointer, giving the Eagles a 53-51 lead. Tied at 57 with just under four minutes to go, Kamile Jacobs knocked down a jumper to give the Eagles a two point-lead. The would be the final lead of the game for CSE, however, as Wesley closed out the game on a 9-2 run to take the contest by five.
Following a three-week break, the Eagles return to action on January 6 when it travels to Brooklyn College for a 1 pm tip.
