Chambersburg, Pa. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (2-6, 1-3 NEAC) scored 60 points in the second half, but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to Wilson College, 104-100 on Saturday afternoon.
Marlon Hart paced the Eagles with 19 points, including 5-5 from beyond the arc.
Jordan Simmons added 19 points while
Jason Saldiveri chipped in with 16 points and eight assists.
With the game squared at nine, Wilson used a 5-0 run to gain a 14-9 lead with 13:21 remaining in the first half. CSE scored just four points over the next 3:50 as Wilson upped the lead to 24-12. Trailing by 20 with one second remaining in the half,
Michael Manso knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 57-40 heading into the break.
To begin the second half, the Eagles quickly ran off a 12-3 run three minutes in to slice the deficit to eight. Following a three-pointer from Wilson, the Eagles blitzed off an 11-0 run to tie the game up at 63 with 13 minutes remaining. The game of runs continued over the next three minutes as Wilson scored 15 straight to take a 78-63 lead with ten minutes to go in the game.
After clawing its way back into the game, the Eagles found themselves trailing 102-97 before Simmons drained a three-pointer to get CSE within two with 12 seconds remaining. Following two made free-throws by Wilson, the Eagles were unable to score, falling by four.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday when they travel to Gallaudet for a 2 pm tip.
