Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team released their historic 2016-17 schedule, a 25-game slate beginning with King's College on November 19.
On November 19, the Eagles open up at home against King's College of New York in the first ever game in CSE men's basketball history. The game will tipoff at 7 pm, with pre-game ceremonies beforehand.
The Eagles hit the road for their first away game of the season on November 22 to take on New Rochelle College at 7 pm. New Rochelle is also in their first year after going coed in the fall.
CSE returns home on November 29 to open up NEAC play against Penn State Berks. The Nittany Lions finished third in the NEAC South division last season with a 8-10 record in the conference.
The following weekend, the Eagles host Penn State Abington on December 3 and travel to Bryn Athyn on December 4 to close out NEAC play before winter break. Penn State Abington and Bryn Athyn finished with identical 6-12 records in the NEAC and 6-19 records overall. CSE finishes up December with Drew University, Sarah Lawrence College and Pratt Institute before a three-week hiatus for winter break.
Entering 2017, the Eagles open up on January 7 with a road trip to Wilson College. The following day, the Eagles will take on the Bison from Gallaudet in Washington, D.C. Gallaudet finished last season in second place in the NEAC South Division with a 14-4 record in the conference and an 18-8 record overall.
This will be the beginning of a tough stretch for the Eagles as they play seven games in an 11 day span. During the stretch, the Eagles will play host to Lancaster Bible College, who finished with a perfect 25-0 record in the regular season last year. The Chargers won their two NEAC playoff games en route to an NCAA tournament apperance, before falling to the College of Wooster in the first round, 96-83.
Following the seventh game of the 11-day stretch against Bryn Athyn, the Eagles hit the road for a pivital five-game stretch, beginning with Penn College on January 21. The remaining four games include Penn State Abington, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly and Lancaster Bible.
To open up February, the Eagles host Penn College on the fourth at 2 pm. The following weekend, CSE has their final homestand of the season, hosting reigning NEAC North Champs Morrisville State, followed by Cazenovia College on February 12.
CSE closes out the regular season with a final roadtrip to upstate New York to take on Wells College on February 17 and Keuka College on February 18.
The first round of the NEAC playoffs begins on Tuesday, February 21.
