CSE Falls to Abington on Senior Day

Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (13-12, 11-9 NEAC) dropped their final game of the season on Senior Day, 66-53 to Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon.

Amerisse Rogers got the Eagles out to a fast start, scoring 5 quick points to give the Eagles an 11-2 lead. The Nittany Lions followed suit with a 9-1 run to cut the lead to 13-12. With 10:15 remaining, Sharolin Sanders made a driving layup while drawing a foul, making a three-point play and opening up a 22-15 lead. The Eagles couldn't maintain the lead for long as the Nittany Lions tied the score up at 27 with 3 minutes remaining in the half. Abington would end the half on a 11-5 run to take a 38-32 lead into the break.

Danesha Triplett scored a nice up and under layup to get the Eagles to within 42-36 with 17 minutes remaining in the game. Abington however, would go on an 9-2 run to open up a 13 point lead. Ashley Pledger would try to lead the Eagles comeback, scoring 4 straight points to cut the deficit to 53-45. The Eagles couldn't manage to get much closer as Abington opened up a 15 point lead with 3 minutes remaining. CSE would end up dropping the contest 66-53.

Ashley Pledger lead the Eagles with 14 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds. Amerisse Rogers added 13 points and 5 assists. Before the game, Valerie Lasko was honored with a framed picture on senior day. She finished the day with 4 points and 2 rebounds.

The Eagles finish the year with a 13-12 record and 11-9 record in the NEAC. CSE finished in 5th place in the NEAC South Division, narrowly missing out on the playoffs for the first time in 4 years.
