Second Half Rally Lifts Eagles

Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (9-8, 7-5 NEAC) rallied past Penn College in the second half, winning 67-58 on Saturday.

The Eagles took an early 5-2 lead behind Alivia Roseboro's three-pointer from the corner. Penn College would hang tough, taking a 13-12 lead with 12:04 remaining in the first half. Penn College would open up a 7 point lead before Danesha Triplett scored 4 straight points to get the Eagles to within 3. Penn College would knock down the final jumper of the half to take a 30-26 lead into the break.

Determined to get out to a quick start, Amerisse Rogers swished home a three-pointer to give the Eagles a 35-32 lead. With 15:01 remaining, Ashley Pledger pushed a fast break, resulting in an easy layup and a 9 point Eagles advantage. Penn College would claw back to within 3 before Alexandria Garcia knocked down a corner three-pointer to give the Eagles a 49-43 lead. With 4:10 remaining in the game, Triplett put up an easy layup to give the Eagles their first double-digit lead of the game. The Eagles would not let Penn College get back into the game, winning the contest 67-58.

Amerisse Rogers lead the Eagles with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Danesha Triplett added 17 points and 9 rebounds while Ashley Pledger totaled 15 points and 8 rebounds. The Eagles return to action on Sunday when they travel to Penn State Abington at 12 pm.
