Chambersburg, P.A.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team jumped out to a big first half lead and never looked back, defeating Wilson College 94-44 on Sunday.
The Eagles (2-2, 2-0 NEAC) jumped out to an early 14-7 lead thanks to back to back buckets by
Valerie Lasko. The Phoenix from Wilson would score the next 9 points to take a 16-14 lead.
Ashley Pledger and Lasko would combine for 18 of the next 28 points as the Eagles went on an incredible 28-1 run to take a commanding 42-17 late in the first half. Â CSE would continue to pour it on, adding 15 more points en route to a season-high 57 first half points, as the Eagles led 57-26 heading into the break.
Alivia Roseboro made a driving layup to open up the second half for the Eagles.
Christine Grispart buried a jumper while getting fouled to open up a 35-point lead. Despite all the offense, the Eagles defense continued to suffocate Wilson, forcing 38 turnovers and holding the Phoenix to 28% shooting for the game. The Eagles would not look back, winning the game 94-44.
Valerie Lasko finished with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-18 from the field.
Amerisse Rogers added 10 points and 15 rebounds while
Ashley Pledger dropped 19 points of her own. CSE returns to action on Thursday for their home opener when they host Purchase College at 7 p.m.
